The Wedgwood story began in 1759 when Josiah Wedgwood started up as an independent potter in Burslem, England. Today the company still produces many of the materials he invented, such as Jasper, Queen’s Ware and Black Basalt together with world-beating bone china – much of it designed by top contemporary designers like Susie Cooper, Jasper Conran and Vera Wang.
